Out of curiosity, have you visited the web site on the Tramways of Cuba?

CubaGenWeb is Moving

moving

27 Feb 2009 - CubaGenWeb is moving to a new web hosting service. We have taken every precaution to minimize any interruption of service, but there may be periods in the next few days when CubaGenWeb might become temporarily unavailable while the domain name servers are updated throughout the Internet. We apologize for any inconvenience.

CubaGenWeb Move is Complete

7 Mar 2009 - The move of CubaGenWeb to our new web hosting service has been successfully completed.

26 Mar 2009 - We have opened an account on Twitter and are starting an experiment using it to bring you up to date on what we are doing and to let you provide immediate feedback. Click on the above headline to reach our Twitter Blog.

26 Apr 2009 - During our visit yesterday to FIU, we rescanned some nearly illegible pages from 1853 and 1854. We have now corrected misspellings of names and added ports of origins where missing.

We completed the transcription of passengers arriving Habana in July and August of 1853. We now have more than 37,400 passenger names from over 2,900 ships in our database. Click on the above headline to reach this data.

25 Jun 2009 - We have just finished transcribing 1,069 passengers arriving and departing Habana in January 1871. We now have more than 40,000 passengers from more than 3,100 ships in our databases. Among the passengers departing Habana was Jose Marti, age 18, who was deported to Spain by arrangements of his family so he coud continue his studies. Click on the above headline to reach the data base.

20 May 2009 - Thanks to the generosity and efforts of Alvaro R. Cosculluela we have been able to publish the complete Wilson, Miyares & Valiente family genealogy. This 451 page book, known as the "Wilson book", was hand written and illuminated in color. It contains data on many related families as well as data on the original families that populated Santiago de Cuba. Thanks to Alvaro, who scanned the book at his own expense, it has been made available to the public for the first time. Click on the above headline to reach the introductory page and links to the various Sections of the book.

NEW PASSENGERS DATA BASE

NEW MAMBI DATA BASE

07 Jun 2009 - We have completely redesigned our Passengers and Mambi Army databases. You can now search the entire database in one step. You also do not need Java to perform searches. Click on the above headline links to reach the new database search forms.

We have removed the old Passengers data base because of file size limitations of our old search software.

For now we are retaining both versions of the Mambi database. The content of both versions is identical.
